Frequently Asked Questions

I'd like to buy something, what do I do?

Fill in the form on the Ordering page and let us know the style of dress/skirt you'd like and in what colour or pattern. We can then let you know the expected production time and confirm the cost.

Each dress or skirt is custom made to-order. You can provide as little or as much information as you want to ensure your garment fits you well. The following will be useful:

Bust, waist and hip measurements

If you prefer a longer or shorter skirt

How do I get the item from you?

Items are posted once a week and can be hand delivered if very local or at various races around the South East.

How and when can I pay?

As a very small organization, payment can only be accepted via PayPal or cash on delivery. After confirming details of your requirements, you will be sent a PayPal invoice for payment.

How much do you charge for delivery?

Postage and packaging varies from £1.50 for smaller items, including gaiters, arms sleeves and some skirts, to £3 for most dresses and skirts. Orders of more than £75 will be delivered free of charge.

Do you post internationally?

We are happy to post around the globe, with postage quoted on an individual basis.

Can I return my item?

Items sold in standard sizes can be returned within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, although you will be responsible for paying to return the item. For custom made, returns can only be accepted if the item is faulty.

What are your dresses and skirts made from?

All items are made with a polyester/elastane blend known as Spandex (the generic name) or Lycra (the most well known brand). It is the same fabric as used in most high-street activewear garments and is both light and excellent at wicking away sweat.

The plain fabrics are very stretchy and garments are made smaller than your actual body size so that they fit snugly when worn. Some of the patterned fabrics have a bit less stretch, but your garment will be made to accomodate this. The inside seams and hems are all made with a very strong and stretch stitch so they won't break during normal use.

Do the dresses and skirts have shorts built in?

Only items labelled as 'skorts' have shorts built in. Running Afrock dresses and skirts are designed to be worn alongside your regular running-wear, meaning you can enjoy them in the summer over a pair of shorts and in the colder months with capris or leggings.

The aim with Running Afrock is to produce quality garments that are currently unavailable to buy anywhere else in the UK. While initially there were no plans to make shorts, the discovering of a distinct lack of longer shorts on the market has led to their introduction in the Running Afrock range.

Can you really run in a dress?

Yes! The body of the dress is close fitted so that it does not move about as you run. The skater skirts swish about as you run but you hardly notice you're wearing them. A-line skirts are better if you don't like having the extra fabric or want to show off your bottom!

Why do I need to wear a dress or skirt to run?

You don't, but some people like to feel a bit more feminine when they run and add  variety to their running wardrobe. Some buyers like the modesty aspect of having their bottom or legs covered. They are also great for slipping on over a swimming costume at the beach.

I'm a plus size, can you made a dress for me?

Of course! All sizes are welcomed. The activewear industry does not always cater to the larger sizes and Running Afrock is keen to fill that gap in the market.

I'd like a dress to match my running club's colour but I need a very particular shade. Is this possible?

Plain fabrics are available in a wide variety of colours and shades. While we do not have each of these in stock, they can be ordered for a specific project. If you require a very exact shade, we will need a sample of that fabric to match to the samples in stock.

If new fabric must to be purchased, a bulk order will need to be made via a representative of your running club. A minimum of five dress, 10 skirts or a combination of eight skirts and dresses is required to offer this club kit matching service.

If you choose to source your club dresses and/or skirts from Running Afrock, a bulk discount can be negotiated.
